What Does A 2021 Marketer Look Like?
The game has changed. If you're an NFL fan you can clearly see over the past decade how the position of quarterback has dramatically changed. The skillset of the players who are succeeding at the highest level now are much different than the days of yore. Sure, there are still some holdovers like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, etc....that play the position in the classic style, but quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, DeShaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, and more are rewriting the position.

COVID has also rewritten the skillset of the consummate home care marketer for 2021 and beyond. The "door to door" sales pro that relied on in person relationship building has dramatically faded away in favor of new, more agile marketing techniques for a Covid world. The new benchmark for the home care sales pro looks something like this:
(Still) The ability to make in person sales calls and build relationships when available.
Proficiency in digital marketing including email, text, social media, and video.
Expert time management skills due to often working remotely.
Expertly delivering "impactful messaging" so as not to blend into the crowd.
Proficiency in moving back and forth between marketing techniques in response to Covid restrictions (or easing of restrictions)
(Always) The ability to close the business and get the referral.
Whew....tall order huh?
Well, this is the position we've found ourselves in. If you or your sales team are struggling, compare the list above to their current skillset. Be brutally honest in relation to how you or they measure up. If you are lacking in certain areas then getting the eduction and training in those areas is key to surviving in Homecare 2.0.
There are a generation of newer marketing people that have these exact marketing skills. Many of them will lack the face to face selling skills, and perhaps even closing skills. If you're not one of those people, meet one of them. You can mentor them on in person selling and they can help you understand the digital marketing world.
We can help develop your sales team 2.0....just drop me an email and let's discuss it.
Good Selling!
